OUR GROUP GOALS
Alignment with the SDGs
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are a universal call to action adopted by United Nations member states at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.
The SDGs aim to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and education. Comprising 17 interconnected goals, they provide a framework for countries, organisations, and communities to work towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all by 2030.
This year, we’ve exceeded policy development targets. Our focus is now on continuous management and annual evaluation of group policies to ensure they remain current and effectively enforced across our organisation.
We’ve reviewed our group goals for 2025 and beyond, leveraging insights from our 30 global institutions to strengthen sustainability initiatives. Our goals span four key themes – Education, Equality, Environment, and Ethics – with timelines ranging from annual commitments to long-term targets extending to 2040.
Our approach balances global ambitions with local needs, providing clear pathways to achievement. As this is an ongoing process, our approach will continue to evolve as we gain insights and experience and as we adapt to the evolving global sustainability landscape.
Together, we can forge a future that not only thrives but leaves a lasting legacy of meaningful change.

Our Impactful Initiatives
Education is the cornerstone of our mission to create positive change in the world. The initiatives across our group reflect our collective commitment to making quality education accessible, inclusive and transformative.
In 2024, our institutions have focused on expanding educational opportunities across diverse communities and addressing critical societal issues.
From FutureLearn empowering women in Afghanistan to Pearl Academy supporting the rehabilitation of inmates in India, and University Canada West fostering understanding of Indigenous history in Canada,these programmes demonstrate the power of education to break barriers and build bridges.
Gisma’s Meli-Meli Stingless Bee Honey Initiative
Gisma University of Applied Sciences, based in Potsdam, Germany, blends academic theory with real-world business skills to nurture future leaders.
Amal Clooney Scholarship
The University of Law launched the groundbreaking Amal Clooney Scholarship, in partnership with world-renowned human rights lawyer Amal Clooney and the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
The Pink Bear Project
The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) unveiled a striking public artwork by British artist LUAP, Paul Robinson, during the Altonale cultural festival in Hamburg.
